It is not enough just to build on strength.

Vchi is hiding in this photo. Could you find him?
The answer is below this article.

Long time ago, there lived Victor who was a first grade student of a junior high school and belonged to a baseball club.
Victor was a pitcher. As he had a strong throwing arm, his ball was very fast.
But, there were 10 pitchers in the club and they were strong rivals for Victor.
The ace pitcher, who always played games, threw balls faster than Victor, and also could throw various kinds of breaking ball. There were also other rival pitchers who pitched better than Victor.
Victor was always a substitute player.

Victor knew that his strength was his strong throwing arm.
So he made many efforts to throw many balls every day to make his ball faster. He also made efforts to use breaking balls. At the time he got the third grade, his ball got faster than ever, and he could use breaking balls.
But of course, the ace pitcher and other rivals also made many efforts.
In the end, Victor was a substitute player until the graduation.

There was Vincent who entered the same baseball club at the same timing.
Vincent also was a pitcher. He had as strong throwing arm as Victor’s one, and could throw a fast ball.
Vincent also knew that his strength was his strong arm.
He thought how to get a regular player in this highly competitive club.
And he considered what type of player was required in this club.
He found that there were many pitchers in this club, but catcher was only one, and his throwing arm was not so strong.
Vincent converted his position to catcher, and made efforts to make the best use of his strong arm. Of course, he learnt the technique which catcher should have.
In the end, Vincent got the regular position as catcher, played many games until his graduation.

For both Victor and Vincent, the starting point was the same.

And both found their strength and made efforts.
But one could be a regular, and another couldn’t
Maybe you can see why this happened?

We need to look at not only ourselves, but also our surroundings.
We need to know not only our strength, but also what is required by others.

To know our strength is important, but it is not enough.
We should know what other people require?
And based on that, we should consider how to make the best use of our talents.
