Taking no risk is a risk.

Vchi is hiding in this photo. Could you find him?
The answer is below this article.

“In a battle, if the numbers of soldiers are 10,000 vs. 3,000, sometimes the side of 3,000 wins. That’s because the soldiers of small number side are convinced that their survival rate is less than 50% and fight desperately.”

These are words of Toshiie Maeda, Japanese general in the past.

Imagine a morning in a cold winter holiday.
When you wake up, if it is too cold, you cannot get out of bed, right?
But if you are in bed all day, you cannot spend enjoyable holiday, can you?
In short, unless you get out of the safest place, you cannot spend a meaningful day.

Of course, there is a child who wants to be in the warm bed all day.
If you can be satisfied with it, I don’t care at all.
Everybody can decide how to spend his day.
And everybody has different life in which how he spent.
And accumulation of these days gets our lives.
In above sentence, please change “all day” to “all of my life”.
Do you want to spend all of your life in bed?

“The only way to avoid failure is not challenging.”
I thought like this before.
If we don’t challenge, we never succeed, but at the same time, we never fail.
But this is a wrong thinking.
Not challenging itself is the failure.
For instance, imagine there is a man who didn’t challenge to work, and stay at home all day.
He is surely never scolded by his boss in the office. He never feels depressed by his mistakes.
If his parents are not strict, he can live by pension of his parents.
But what if his parents die?
Even if his parents leave property to him, at the time of his dying, how can he recall his life?
Can he recall his life as a meaningful one?
Can he be satisfied with his life?

In Kanji character, “失敗(failure)” is written as “敗(be defeated)” and “失(lose).”
In the case of above, he is defeated by himself, and he loses his life.

As such, there is a failure even if you don’t challenge at all. And in many cases, these failures are bigger ones.

We get nervous when we are apart from “safe” places.
I think these feeling of nervous supports to achieve our target.
For instance, I can hardly do desk works or study in my room.
I am writing this article in a library.
I cannot keep my feeling of nervousness in my room.
And without it, I cannot concentrate on anything.
Too many stress or nervousness crush people, but appropriate level of stress and nervousness effect positively on us.
And these stress and nervousness are generated by taking risks.
To sum up, risk sometimes effects positively on us.
